Abstract
During childhood and adolescence, cognitive processes play a key role in children’s development. Their inten-sity and effectiveness are directly related to the cognitive characteristics of individuals, which are a set of ele-ments, including: memory, attention, speed of thought reactions, imagination, speech, the ability to reason logi-cally, perceive information with the senses. The aim of the present study is to identify the peculiarities of cogni-tive processes of younger adolescents with different levels of development of nonverbal intelligence. The in-terpretations of the relevant concepts in psychological research are given. The results of the study of memory and attention parameters in young adolescent children with different levels of development of nonverbal intel-ligence are analyzed. Significant differences in the volumes of visual mediated, short-term and long-term memory, auditory mediated memory, as well as in the processes of switching and distributing attention in the general sample of subjects of the selected category are determined. Statistically reliable differences were ob-tained according to the results of the study of the peculiarities of cognitive processes of younger adolescents with different levels of nonverbal intelligence development taking into account the respondents’ gender.
