Sources on the Manufacture of Medicines by the Aptekarskii Prikaz (Apothecary Chancery) (1629—1672)

Abstract

The article is devoted to a source study of the documents of the Aptekarskii Prikaz (Apothecary Chancery) (a medical institution in Russia in the 16—17th centuries) related directly to its pharmaceutical function — manufacture of medicines. The study examines a corpus of sources containing information on the production processes and formulation of manufactured medicines, their classification and typology is carried out, the nomenclature is revealed. The analysis of the documents shows the diversity of medicines produced in the Aptekarskii Prikaz, as well as the wide geography of origin of the raw materials used for this purpose.
