Education – a essential premise for a sustainable development

Abstract

Education is a fundamental social phenomenon for individual and collective well-being and prosperity. The evolution of this concept over the centuries allowed its transformation into a noble world movement. Today, education is at the center of attention of multiple organizations, unions and summits. Educational policies have become a priority for the European Union, which is working towards the creation of a European Area of education, with the aim of harnessing citizens' knowledge for Europe's prosperity. The continuity of education is one of its most important aspects through which we can create a universal culture of learning. The lifelong education has become an integrative principle for the transformation of any society into an educational fortress, a concept that consists in everyone’s involvement in a continuous educational process.
