Abstract
Toxic organizational culture is a complex and detrimental phenomenon that negatively affects employees and the performance of organizations. This article focuses on identifying the characteristics and consequences of toxic organizational culture, as well as exploring ways to combat this issue. Studies have revealed that toxic culture manifests itself through a lack of open and transparent communication, dominance and intimidation, lack of mutual respect and support, as well as abuse of power and favouritism. These aspects result in a stressful work environment, decreased employee motivation and commitment, and increased absenteeism and turnover rates. To address this problem, organizations should promote a healthy culture based on values such as respect, transparency, fairness, and employee involvement in decision-making processes. Implementing appropriate policies and practices, as well as developing leadership and communication skills, can help reduce the negative effects of toxic organizational culture and create a productive and healthy work environment.
