Abstract

Identity refers to the distinctive aspect of each individual or group that sets them apart and makes them unique. It's what I can call "who I am." One can be called identity-less if they lack any specific attributes unique to themselves. If a person has no distinct qualities, they can be termed as identity-less. Given the importance of this topic, the question arises: how can redefining national identity help foster societal integration in Afghanistan? The assumption is that, due to fragmentation and semantic divergence, national identity in Afghanistan has, instead of unity and coherence, become a breeding ground for discord, tension, and societal discord. National identity is a diverse and pervasive conglomerate derived from the various cultural and social identities of a country's citizens. National identity entails an individual's or a community's official and legal affiliation with a nation and its state. Shared geography, common political system, shared economic structure, shared history, common culture, mutual interests, and a common language are perceived as components of national identity within a country. In this study, a descriptive-analytical method, along with library resources, scientific articles, and reputable journals, has been employed. The research findings indicate that national identity requires a precise understanding and recognition of the issues that exemplify nationhood, a realization that has not yet materialized.
