Abstract

Common words and grammatical similarities between languages, increase the interaction of languages with each other and accelerate the language learning process. Over the centuries, many grammatical subjects from Arabic and Persian have been transferred to Turkish and Urdu under the influence of the religion of Islam. Urdu, which comes from ordo/ordu in Old Turkic, means khan’s mansion, military camp. Nowadays, Urdu language appears as a common means of communication of different cultures in many parts of the Indian Subcontinent. Scientific studies in the literature show that the common words used today between Turkish and Urdu languages are mostly of Arabic and Persian origin. This study put emphasis on the common conjunctions that connect the sentences and concepts related to the meaning used in Turkish and Urdu languages and common exclamations that describe emotional states or reflect a nature sound; it was tried to draw attention to sound changes and meaning changes with the examples of sentences given in the form of tables.
