MODERN INTERPRETATION OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC CYCLES: METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS

Abstract

Cyclicality is a universal and general form of movement of all economic and social processes, regardless of the levels of the economy and society at which they occur. Cyclicality is also a manifestation of one of the mechanisms of market self-regulation. The purpose of the article is a critical review of the main concepts that characterize the cyclical development of socio-economic systems at the macro level and the emphasis of the methodological vision on changing the trajectories of their development under the influence of unpredictable factors of a global scale (natural disasters, droughts, epidemics and, most importantly, wars), in the first place, on the example of modern Ukraine. In the work, from the standpoint of an interdisciplinary approach, the main types of cyclicality, which characterize various types of socio-economic dynamics, are critically examined and analyzed. The main attention is paid to the problem of violation of "natural cyclicity" as a result of the action of factors of an extraordinary nature.
