Determination of nurse's psychosocial care proficiency

Abstract

Purpose: To determine the psychosocial careproficiencies of nurses by using the Psychosocial CareCompetence Self-Assessment Scale.Materials and Methods: The sample of the descriptivecross-sectional study consisted of nurses working in auniversity hospital who agreed to participate in thestudy, and the study was carried out with 166 nurses.Data were collected between May 2022 and October2022 with the introductory information form and thePsychosocial Care Competency Self-Assessment Scale.The data were evaluated with the SPSS 22 program andstatistical significance was taken as p<0.05.Results: It was determined that there was a differencebetween the mean scores of psychosocial careproficiencies according to gender and previous trainingon psychosocial care.Conclusion: In the literature, it is seen that thepsychosocial care proficiencies of nurses are evaluatedwith the forms developed by the researchers. In thisstudy, which was conducted using a valid and reliablemeasurement tool, it can be said that the psychosocialcare competence scores of the nurses were good. Due tothe high scores of psychosocial care proficiency innurses who have received training in psychosocial care,it is recommended to plan in-service trainings on thesubject and to conduct new studies by using the scale inlarger samples.
