Abstract

The ethnopedagogical practices of the peoples of the Caucasus have given rise to an extensive tradition of their study, the historiography of which deserves a separate research. The authors of the article focus on Nogai paremies (proverbs, sayings, and catchphrases that represent a whole sentence of didactic content), which reflect folk ideas about the education of children. Due to the ethnicity of one of the authors, one of the research tools was autoethnography and reflection on his own ideas about upbringing and ethnopedagogical techniques used in his childhood. Stability of ideas about gender and child-parent roles, mutual responsibility of spouses and children to the younger and older, necessity of labor education fixed by folklore allows us to say that even in the 21st century Nogai proverbs and sayings play an important role in the transmission of normative culture to the next generations and the formation of ethnocultural identity.
