Manifestation of Russian national character in the image of Andrei Sokolov (based on the story “The Fate of a Man” by M.A. Sholokhov)

Abstract

В статье раскрывается специфика творческой реализации национальной идеи в произведении М. А. Шолохова «Судьба человека», посвященном героизму, проявленному русским народом в годы Великой Отечественной войны. Исследование направлено на раскрытие истинного смысла национальной идеи путем противопоставления ее фашизму в аспекте общечеловеческих моральных ценностей. Образ героя рассказа собирательный, таких, как Андрей Соколов, очень много. Шолохов показывает достоинство русского солдата, который даже в плену думает не о собственной жизни, а о Родине. В поступках героя воплощаются специфические черты русского характера. The article reveals the specifics of the creative realization of the national idea in M.A. Sholokhov’s work “The Fate of a Man”, dedicated to the heroism shown by the Russian people during the Great Patriotic War. The study shows the true meaning of the national idea by contrasting it with fascism in the aspect of universal moral values. The image of the hero is collective, there are many such as Andrei Sokolov. Sholokhov shows the dignity of the Russian soldier, who even in captivity thinks not about his own life, but about the Motherland. The hero’s actions embody specific features of the Russian character.
