For the determination of reinforcing reinforcements, the empirical method of Lonhardt and Mönnig was used, and then this result was compared with what was calculated using the strut-and-tie model. With these results, it was observed that the empirical method of Leonhardt and Mönnig presented throughout the analysis matrix, a greater steel area than that obtained by the strut-and-tie model, thus being the most suitable for these situations. Abstract

This manuscript main objective is to compare two methods of designing reinforcement around an opening in a solid slab of reinforced concrete, in addition to analyze the deflections observed in the structural element, in order to compare the impact caused to the service limit state between different types of openings presented.
