Abstract

The environmental theme has been discussed at different levels of education, often decontextualized from the reality in which students live and end up becoming inefficient. This article aims to assess the change in environmental perception after the Ecological Footprint activity was carried out by undergraduate students in the Natural Sciences Course of a university in southern Brazil. The same questionnaire was applied before and after the intervention, consisting of questions that aim to assess the impact perceived by students in relation to daily lifestyle and consumption activities. The collected data were analyzed through content analysis and statistical analysis. Word cloud was used to facilitate the feedback of the results to the participants. For the discursive questions, there was an increase in the answers and we obtained new codes. Regarding objective questions, there was an increasing trend observed in all questions in the post-intervention period. These results indicate that the ecological footprint constitutes a pedagogical tool with an environmental approach capable of modifying the environmental perception of the participants.
