Abstract
One of strategies for the 5G networks development is the utilization of a millimeter wave bands (mmWBs). The most likely use of this spectrum for 5G networks is utilization of the 24.25-27.5 GHz and 26.5-29.5 GHz bands for Phase 1 of 5G development. In these frequency bands of ITU Region 1, active use digital radio-relay (DRRS) and broadband wireless access (BWA) systems of fixed service (FS) in many European countries, which in turn can create EMC problems when using the 5G and FS systems together. The published technical specifications of 3GPP (series 38.xxx) have determined the EMC characteristics of 5G radio electronic systems (RES), which can be used for research and experimental EMC evaluation for 5G transmitters and FS system receivers. Experimental data on a required C/I protection ratio are obtained during field tests for FS DRRS/BWA with 5G RES that defined interference levels of they operation without harmful mutual interference. The results of tests can be used to develop a strategy for 5G networks deployment in Europe and to carry out technical measures for spectrum sharing of 5G network and FS systems and for planning 5G networks also. The article submitted the results of an experimental study of a protection criteria of typical FS systems: DRRS and BWA for influence of harmful interference from the transmitters of 5G networks using mmWave bands.
