Abstract
The performance of n+-p+ Hg1−xCdxTe midwavelength infrared (MWIR) heterojunction photodetector at T=295 K is simulated to evaluate the electrical and optical characteristics. The SILVACO ATLAS 2D software has been used for the simulation and optimization of the device. The dark current has been reduced significantly by applying suitable biasing and optimizing the device thickness which in turn improves quantum efficiency and responsivity to be around 78.7 % and 3.1 A/W, respectively.
