Invasive methods are often used for measuring partial discharge in high-voltage transformers. With this method, the sensor is placed close to the transformer, which poses a significant risk to the operator’s safety. A method is needed for safer and more effective measurements without endangering the operator’s safety. This paper will present a PD detection method designed using a log-periodic dipole antenna as a sensor. The log-periodic dipole antenna is designed with a microstrip form, making it simple yet performing well. This antenna is designed to detect signals in the partial discharge spectrum, which is 250-750 MHz, or in the VHF and UHF frequency ranges. The radiation pattern characteristics produced by the microstrip log-periodic dipole antenna are highly relevant for use as a partial discharge sensor. This antenna’s measurements can be made from a safe distance from electrical equipment or through non-invasive methods. The minimum frequency represents the VHF band, and the maximum frequency represents the UHF band.
