Abstract

This paper proposes a north alignment method dedicated to turntables (motion simulators). The characterization of the table azimuth is obtained by exploiting gyros data of an inertial navigation system or an inertial measurement unit mounted on the turntable platform. A specific sequence of the table movements involving at least two axes is proposed to get an estimation of the table azimuth. The accuracy of the method is evaluated. Experimental results confirm the interest of the approach.
