Critical Thinking Skills Profile of Fourth Grade Elementary School Students in Science Learning

Abstract

Critical thinking skill is one of the competencies of 21st century skills. This study aims to determine critical thinking skills in learning the science of light material and their characteristics in fourth grade elementary school students. This research is a quantitative descriptive study, with 36 fourth grade elementary school students as research subjects. The method of data collection uses the critical thinking skills test. The data analysis technique used is a quantitative descriptive statistical analysis The results showed that students' critical thinking skills consisted of very high category 13.89%, high 22.22%; medium 27.78%; low 30.56%, very low 5.56%, thus it can be concluded that the critical thinking skills of fourth grade elementary school students in science learning still needs to be improved. This study recommends that teachers involve more students' activities that support students' thinking skills.
