Spoken Dialog System: Gaining insights into developing a model from a game of cards

Abstract

The paper reports an exploratory study where it is put to test the possibility of playing a 3-2-5 game of cards using a cell phone. The premise of the experiment is the thought that such an experiment has the potential to inform the understanding of developing future Spoken Dialog Systems. The later is readily getting accepted as an important tool to disseminate information in the developing regions. However it is realized to be relativistic to claim that audio interfaces (with no visual feedback) will suffice for all different kinds of applications and usage scenarios in developing regions. Thus an open ended constructivist approach to gain insights out of this study is used.
