Abstract
Online teaching gradually becomes a common teaching strategy. For teachers, it is a challenge to attract students’ attention during online classes. In addition, teachers have difficulty knowing if students are concentrated during online classes, and teachers cannot adjust their teaching pace based on students’ reactions. In this work, we propose a concentration judgment system to facilitate online teaching. The designed system consists of five modules. The first four modules measure distance, judge posture, detect blink, and detect face position of students, respectively. Then, based on the collected information, the last module adopts fuzzy logic to calculate the concentration levels of students. We also design a screen similarity detection module to monitor if students really focus on the teaching content. Moreover, in this work, we verify our design by a real implementation. The prototyping system contains a web back-end and a graphic user interface (GUI) for teachers to monitor students’ status in real-time.
