Abstract

Walkability in Ostrava and Hradec Kralove: Current cities support pedestrian infrastructures and improvements of urban environment which may contribute to better walkability of their inhabitants. This way they assist to prevention of chronic diseases, to improvement of living environment as well as to bring economic stimulation. The paper deals with various approaches to evaluation of walkability where tens of various indices are currently recognized. The case study focus on assessment walkability in Ostrava and Hradec Kralove using two mainstream indices with the aim to compare advantages and disadvantages of both approaches in practical applications.
