Abstract

This paper focuses on a type of navigation technology known as LaserNav. It involves a sensor initially developed to navigate robotic floor maintenance equipment. The paper review the laser guidance technology, modular mechanical, hardware, and software components, and the basic challenges in integrating this technology to present Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). Human interface, vehicle control factory floor traffic control, navigation, and sensory data fusion/arbitration are discussed within this framework.
