From this, we evidence that the present work proposes to present the studies about the New Literacies, under a historical perspective, carrying out a walk through the roots and origins of this area. To carry out the discussions in this study, we used as main theoretical sources authors such as Kleiman (1995, 2005); Rojo (1998, 2012, 2013, 2019); Rojo and Moura (2012, 2019); Soares (1998, 2009); Tfouni (1988, 1995); Lankshear; Knobel (2003, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011), among others. The methodology undertaken in this study is based on a bibliographical review in which we consulted several materials that discuss the historical course of this area, taking into account everything from the Literacy theme itself to the studies that deal with the New Literacies.
