LIBRARIES AND READING ROOMS OF THE COMMITTEES OF THE PEOPLE'S SOBRIETY OF THE BELARUSIAN PROVINCES (1897–1917)

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the activities of the public sobriety trusteeships of the Belarusian provinces on the creation of a network of free libraries and reading rooms. The principles of functioning of these institutions, the degree of coverage of the population, book funds, and the factors that prevented these institutions from working effectively are analyzed.
