Abstract
This paper presents a new method to evaluate the performance of passive UHF Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags based on the analysis of its Power Spectral Density (PSD) calculated over time observations directly in the Radio Frequency band (RF). The PSD analysis is facilitated with the manipulation of the air interface from RFID signals in order to reproduce a periodic sequence of bits on the tag response. Important deductions for scavenging and reflecting states of the tag can be drawn. The application of the method for some commercially available tags is reported and results are discussed.
