Abstract
This paper presents the performance assessment of the shunt active power filter with two exclusive manipulate strategies for the elimination of source current harmonics and improving supply power factor. In this paper, two different controlling techniques have been used one is the hysteresis current technique and the other one is pulse width modulation technique to design a shunt active power filter. The shunt active power filter provides better conversion efficiency and operates at a very low switching frequency. The overall performance of the shunt active power filter is evaluated by way of the THD of supply current. The THD is reduced within the acceptable limit with the aid of regulating various parameters and power factors close to unity. The effectiveness of the SAPF has been validated with the aid of the significant simulation outcomes completed in the MATLAB/Simulink platform.
