Abstract
Cooperation is granted by the current business environment with an important role in development of innovations, thus making relevant the analysis of cooperative relationships across different industries. The present research aims to identify existing patterns of technological cooperation between sectors of the Brazilian industry, based on data from the National Research of Technological Innovation 2001-2003 (Pintec). The main focus of the present descriptive and exploratory study is to analyze the industrial sectors which are listed at Classificacao Nacional de Atividades Economicas – CNAE (Economic Activity National Classification). The data treatment was made up through cluster analysis. The results identify the existence of two different groups and highlight those that show higher cooperation index, such as: tobacco product manufacturing; oil refining; metallurgical products; office and computer equipment manufacturing; communication equipment and device manufacturing. A significant difference was evidenced between the groups according to the types of cooperation established and, in a general way, it is verified that, in Brazil, intensive industry production tend to show a higher level technological cooperation.
