Przegląd wybranych kwestionariuszy stosowanych do oceny zawrotów głowy i zaburzeń równowagi

Abstract

Aim of the study: The purpose of this literature review was to discuss in detail the questionnaires for the assessment of vertigo and balance disorders which are currently commonly used in clinical practice in the world. Material and methods: To find appropriate publications there were used keywords: vertigo, balance disorders, questionnaires assessing vertigo, diagnostics of vestibular disorders. Due to access to Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect and PubMed databases, Polish and foreign publications were analyzed. At the same time, duplicates, abstracts, conference reports and papers written in other languages than English were rejected. Adres autora: Alina Ratajczak, Światowe Centrum Słuchu, ul. They describe the process of creating new research tools and validation of the questionnaires assessing vertigo and balance disorders carried out by various medical centers in the world. Also materials regarding otoneurologic diagnostics were used. Conclusions: In everyday clinical practice, the role of questionnaires which are reliably filled by the patient is a valuable source of information. They can help to obtain information about the intensity of vertigo and balance disorders, their impact on the daily functioning of patients and the effectiveness of treatment. Also there is the necessity to design Polish adaptation of these questionnaires.
