Abstract
The limitation of teachers in maximizing the use of learning media to increase student learning independence is a problem in the learning process. Video animation can be used to increase students' learning independence. Therefore, problem-based learning-based animated videos are developed for elementary school V grade students who are worthy to develop learning independence and student problem-solving skills in Social Studies. This study used the Research and Development (RD) method with the ADDIE model. Animated videos are validated by material experts, media experts, linguists, practitioners, and users. Expert validation results include high catechism, namely material experts 92.65%, media experts 84%, linguists 91%, practitioners 94.8%, and user tests 91.3%. Thus, patterned animation video based on problem-based learning is very feasible and can be used in IPS learning class in 5th grade elementary school to help students learn Social Studies independently.
