Pseudo-euphemia in the intercultural diachronic transmission of fiction (based on A. Christie’s detective stories)

Abstract

В работе представлена оценка «политкорректных» изменений оригинальных авторских текстов А. Кристи в диахронии. Показаны трансформации названий оригинала правообладателями творческого наследия «королевы детектива», реализующие стратегию эвфемизации в родной британской лингвокультуре (в прагматическом внутриязыковом переводе), родственной и неродственных европейских лингвокультурах (в прагматическом межъязыковом и межкультурном переводе). К анализу привлечены также факты интерсемиотического перевода, осуществляющие прагматическую адаптацию. Представлены аргументы идентификации такой стратегии, как псевдоэвфемии, искажающей идиостилистику и прагматическую задачу А. Кристи. We present an assessment of the “politically correct” changes of the original texts by A. Christie in diachrony. We show the transformations of the original titles by the copyright holders of the creative heritage of the “queen of crime fiction”, implementing the strategy of euphemization in the native British linguoculture (in pragmatic intra-linguistic translation), related and unrelated European linguocultures (in pragmatic interlanguage and intercultural translation). We draw to the analysis the facts of intersemiotic translation, which carry out pragmatic adaptation. We present arguments for identifying such a strategy as pseudo-euphemia that distorts the idiosyncrasy and pragmatic task of A. Christie.
