Jóvenes homosexuales. Los estereotipos y la salud mental

Abstract

Changes in the stage of adolescence (physical and mental) can be affected by social stereotypes, acting negatively on mental and physical well-being, for example, young homosexuals. The objective of this research was oriented to analyze the level of acceptance of homosexual stereotypes within the homosexual group and determine how it can affect their mental health. Through a quantitative study, data collection is carried out with an instrument based on previous research, (n= 96), belonging to Andalusia. The results show that stereotypes are still negatively present in young homosexuals. The conclusions indicate that homosexual people fear to show themselves as they really are due to accepted social stereotypes.
