DIABETIC POLYNEUROPATHY: FOCUS ON CLINIC AND DIAGNOSTICS

Abstract

The objective of our research was to describe various clinical manifestations of diabetic polyneuropathy, modern diagnostic methods to increase the level of awareness of neurologists, endocrinologists and general practitioners of family medicine. Materials and methods. Specialized medical literature, medical databases PubMed and Medscape were analyzed. Discussion. In the genesis of the acute sensory neuropathy take part sharply pronounced fluctuations of glycemia, in connection with which they can be united into a single pathogenetic whole. A rare lesion of the peripheral nervous system in diabetes is “Bruns-Garland syndrome”. In all patients at the stage of clinically asymptomatic neuropathy, on electroneuromyography are showed the signs of sensory axonal polyneuropathy, mainly of the lower extremities. Reduced heart rate variability is the earliest indicator of cardiac autonomic neuropathy.
