The LED driver is equipped with the additional temperature measurement circuit based on the digital sensors. Monitoring of the high power diode's temperature is very important in automotive applications. The microcontroller can turn-off the LED when the measured temperature crosses the preset threshold value or can limit the diode's current to prevent the temperature from farther rising. The presented converter has been tested and selected results of laboratory investigations are presented in the paper.
