This article describes the theoretical features of the formation of professional competence of a teacher in undergraduate studies as a basic level of professional education based on theoretical and methodological provisions and functional components of education; also, on the basis of an experimental study, the formed communicative and methodological levels of readiness of future teachers of a foreign language were determined, as a result of which a lack of methodological knowledge of future teachers in terms of the practical organization of the teacher's work was established. One can also note the absence in the education standards of specific requirements necessary for professional activity. Abstract

Higher education, being primarily professional education, aims to train a specialist with the necessary qualifications aimed at solving professional problems in a particular sector of the economy, and is also focused on the formation of a harmoniously developed personality.
