In this context, the characterization of electrical energy consumptions of the different processes in mining and mineral processing operations is a crucial task towards the development of strategies for increasing energy efficiency and the evaluation of renewable energy sources. This work, based on real data obtained from different Chilean open-pit mining sites, presents the characterization of key electrical energy consumptions for major mining and mineral processing operations.
