Abstract

In this paper the basic features of a controllable series compensator and a static synchronous series compensator for voltage control are presented. Mathematical models of a controllable series compensator and a static synchronous series compensator, including a simplified transmission system model, based on a single- load infinitive bus, are developed. The impact of a controllable series compensator and a static synchronous series compensator on a voltage was studied. The basic mathematical background of the differences between a controllable series compensator and a static synchronous series compensator in terms of voltage control are presented.
