Abstract
Modern society is in significant need of more efficient and functional sensor networks that can improve the safety and quality of everyday life and the environment. This paper proposes a Wireless Communication System architecture to monitor the potential pollution from a petroleum refinery and water canal Danube-Tisa-Danube in river Danube, located in an urban part Novi Sad town, to achieve better energy efficiency while forwarding data packets consistently. The proposed architecture is implemented using Omnet++ simulator, and the energy model of wireless hosts in the available INET framework. Finally, the simulation results are presented and discussed.
