Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the main influencing factors on the entrepreneurial intention for soldiers in the start-up club activities in order to revitalize the military start-ups. To this end, the relationship between individual characteristics and entrepreneurship on the entrepreneurial intention was empirically analyzed, focusing on the moderating effect of the start-up club activity variable. The analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that individual characteristics (need for achievement, self-efficacy, and motivation) had a positive effect on the entrepreneurial intention. Second, innovativeness and risk-taking had a statistically significant positive effect on the entrepreneurial intention, but proactiveness did not have a significant effect. Third, it was confirmed that need for achievement, a sub-variable of individual characteristics, had a statistically significant positive effect as the activities of the military start-up club activities as a moderating variable in the relationship with the entrepreneurial intention. The implications and limitations of this study are as follows. First, this study is expected to be the basis for follow-up studies related to military start-up clubs in that it is an exploratory study attempted in a situation where domestic studies on variables related to start-up club activities for military soldiers are insufficient. Second, it was found that young people's entrepreneurship affects their entrepreneurial intention through military start-up club activities, and the government needs to further expand the military start-up club in order to revitalize youth start-ups. The limitation of this study was that the survey subjects were limited to Army soldiers working in Gangwon and Gyeonggi areas, which is difficult to generalize the research results. In the follow-up study, more meaningful results can be derived if the investigation is carried out by expanding the number of soldiers belonging to the Navy and Air Force and other local areas including Gangwon and Gyeonggi areas.
