Old age is an old age characterized by physiological changes and a specific social role. Gerontology is a scientific discipline that studies age as a chronological age with specifics in the social role of the individual. Gerontological nursing is a dynamic process between the elderly and the nurse conducted by nurses at all levels of health care. Nursing care is divided into care in hospital institutions, care in one’s own home and care in permanent residence institutions.
