Abstract

This paper enlightens the implementation of half-height method to determine the switching angles for hybrid modular multilevel converter (MMC) to reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD). Many existing inverter topologies fails to produce good output waveform because of the presence of THD due to inappropriate switching of the power devices. To report this issue the half-height method has been implemented to reduce the THD and enhance the output voltage of MMC. The comparative analysis has been carried out with existing modulation techniques based on THD. The system is simulated using MatLab and the results are presented.
