Abstract

The problem of compression of high-resolution streaming video for transmission over low-speed satellite communication channels of small spacecraft is considered. It has been determined that the specificity of using small spacecraft in low orbits, on the one hand, imposes a number of restrictions on weight and size characteristics and energy consumption, on the other hand, it opens up new opportunities for obtaining high-resolution visual information. Approaches to real-time video data compression are considered, which make it possible to implement a subminiature encoder in the “system-onchip” basis.
