Abstract

This paper presents two methods, Successive Addition Method (SAM) and Successive Reduction Method (SRM) for maximizing lifetime in Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (HWSNs). The HWSNs have different sensing capabilities and different power transmit and battery lifetimes. In this study a known set of heterogeneous wireless sensors are randomly deployed. The simulation results show that the two methods are effective for maximizing the lifetime of HWSNs.
