Abstract
Induction motor (IM) drives for electric vehicle (EV) application require large number of batteries connected in parallel which gives rise to circulating currents within the battery circuit. In this paper, a new H-bridge inverter-based IM drive system topology is proposed to reduce the zero-sequence voltage (ZSV) problem in parallel connected batteries. Moreover, the proposed topology inherently suffers from ZSV problem. To find the optimum phase shift angle to minimize the ZSV, an optimization approach has been adopted. The simulation results indicate that the phase shift angles obtained through optimization eliminate the problem.
