Abstract

This paper reports the derivation and verification of stability criteria for negative (non-Foster) inductor loaded with an arbitrary external network. It is assumed that the negative inductance effect is achieved using an negative impedance converter (NIC) in an open circuit stable (OCS) configuration. Equivalent circuit of such negative inductance has been proposed and associated stability areas, for two different external networks, have been found analytically. Achieved theoretical results have been cross-checked by numerical tests using a commercial circuit-theory simulator.
