Abstract

Power electronic systems are becoming more and more complex, switching frequencies and the need for a high control bandwidth are increasing as well as the integration of different techniques for monitoring and supervision on gate driver and system level. This paper presents the general structure, advantages, challenges, possibilities and an exemplary implementation of a power electronic system using intelligent gate drivers with distributed control electronics connected to a common host controller using a robust serial interface.
