Integration of production and distribution planning (IPDP) in the supply chain: A literature review

Abstract

Fierce competition and increasingly demanding customer requirements and needs have compelled companies to continuously improve their operations and improve the quality of their products and services by better managing and minimizing the total cost of the supply chain. The planning of production and distribution considered as the main activities of the supply chain. An examination of current PDP trends and future directions in this field is presented in this paper. Therefore, effective integration of production planning and distribution is essential to gain competitive advantage. The production and distribution planning (PDP) have been treated separately, but in the last teen years Ramesh komar et al (2020), the decision makers have focused more on improving the coordination of the PDP in the chain through the integration of production and distribution planning (IPDP).
