Abstract

The paper presents the operation and frequency control in the Smart Grid region during overfrequency. The studied region consists of a PV power plant, a conventional source represented by a small synchronous generator with the speed controller and a load. The frequency control defined by the recent ENTSO-E Grid Code for generating units of type B is applied on the PV power plant operation and the influence of such control on frequency changes is studied. Obtained simulation results are used to outline a possible solution for future Smart Grid regions' frequency control.
