Following a review regarding some developed image processing methods, the paper concludes by discussing the limitations and future scopes in OCT image analysis and its application in automated diagnosis. Abstract

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a recently developed, non-invasive, biomedical imaging modality. It is progressively gaining popularity in ophthalmologic diagnostics. Compared to any other imaging modality, OCT enables clinicians to obtain retinal images with much higher resolution. This paper discusses the basic functioning principle of OCT and various advancements that it has gone through starting from its invention by Huang et al. in 1991.
