Abstract

The Addiction Severity Index (ASI) was administered to 214 homeless persons who received counseling and counseling-related services from a large community counseling agency located in a major metropolitan area of approximately 1.4 million persons. Data analysis methods included descriptive statistics and multidimensional chi-square tests. Findings and counseling implications specific to medical status, employment status, drug and alcohol problems, legal status, family and social relationships, and child abuse experiences are reported.
