Abstract

In this paper, a PI controller is designed for power system stabilization when the system is subjected to small signal disturbances. Conventionally, lead-lag power system stabilizers were used to mitigate the power system oscillations. The PI controllers are widely used in the process industry owing to its simplicity and robustness. The effectiveness of the proposed controllers has been demonstrated using two examples taken from the literature and has been compared with some controllers prevalent in the literature.
