Abstract

Gaussian assumption for the input to the quantizer is the key to the stochastic analysis of /spl Delta//spl Sigma/ modulator. Our studies show this assumption is also reasonable for bandpass /spl Delta//spl Sigma/ systems when pass-band communication signals are applied. The analysis of quantization error based on this assumption is also performed. The results suggest adding a suitable amount of dither can help the power of quantization error to achieve its minimum value.
